“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For darkness shall cover the earth and thick darkness the peoples, but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.”
- Isaiah 60: 1-2
Sending Christmas Greetings to Everyone!
No matter how or where you celebrated the birth of our Lord, I pray that you could feel the love of God surrounding you. As the twelve days of the Christmas season come to an end, we will be celebrating Epiphany on Sunday, January 5th. Epiphany means appearance or manifestation throughout the world.
Since Epiphany means manifestation, early celebrations honored any of these four
manifestations of Christ:
1. At Jesus birth, the angels bore witness and the shepherds representing Israel bowed before Jesus
2. The visit and adoration of the Magi revealed Jesus to the Gentiles
3. At Jesus’ baptism the Holy Spirit descended, and God declared Jesus’ divine identity
4. Jesus performed his first miracle at the wedding in Cana, by turning water into wine. Jesus’
divinity was revealed through this miracle.
It is through these revelations that God is made known to us. In each of these instances God disclosed Godself to humankind through the person of Jesus, who opens the way for us to have a relationship with God.
Servants Together,
Pastor Karen
